Company History

Yesterday's Tomorrow

J.D. Steel’s journey began in 1970 with a vision: to build not just structures, but a legacy of excellence. What started as a small operation in Phoenix, Arizona, quickly became a cornerstone of the steel construction industry, earning its reputation through hard work, determination, and a commitment to quality. 

Founded by Ray Zeek and Joe Daigneault, J.D. Steel’s early days were defined by resilience and a passion for craftsmanship. From those humble beginnings, the company tackled ambitious projects that helped shape the landscape of the Southwest and beyond. Over time, the tools evolved, the projects grew, and the industry transformed—but the heart of J.D. Steel remained the same: its people.
